Objective:

Students will study the behavior of plane waves at dielectric-dielectric boundaries.  They will be able to derive expressions for the reflectance and transmittance of transverse electric and transverse magnetic waves.  Students will identify the conditions for polarization by reflection and total internal reflection.  They will explore reflection gratings.
