Students will be able to describe various polarization mechanisms. They will be able to describe the properties of exhibiting dichroism or birefringence. They will be familiar with nonlinear phenomena and with electro-optic, magneto-optic, and acousto-optic effects. Students are expected to study the material presented in the textbook and the Web material.
